Mid Atlanic Region Programming Contest:
This is a contest that Shippensburg University hosts every year. Teams from our ACM division all come to Ship to compete in the Computer Science wing. It's a blast! Competitors can get free food, free t-shirts, and a great chance to network with students in other schools!
Every spring, the conference of Pennsylvania Computer and Information Science Educators
(PACISE) is held at a different Pennsylvania college. There are presentations and special sessions held by industry experts as well as a programming competition for students. In 2011, PACISE will be hosted by Shippensburg! Be sure to check it out!
Every year, the programming team makes a short trip to Dickinson College to compete in their programming competition. This is another great chance to talk to other Computer Science students as well as adventure away from campus for a day (and get free food)!
Last year, Ship walked away with 1st and 3rd place in this competition!
The University of Delaware Programming Team hosts an internet contest every year. This contest is essentially the same as any other except it's done remotely! Teams don't have to leave their schools, so our Programming Team just meets in one of our labs for this 3 hour contest. It's good fun and great practice for longer competitions!
You read the name correctly -- this is a 24-hour long programming contest that connects over 900 programming teams from acros the world. Participants camp out in the computer science labs for 24 hours and try to solve as many problems as possible. This year was Ship's first time competing and we came in 179th and 272nd out of 971 teams internationally. How's that for EXTREME?
The Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges held their 26th annual Eastern Conference at Juniata this year. This conference included a programming contest that we participated in, and we came in 4th!
